Practical EU career guidance, grounded in experience
I know that building a career in EU affairs can feel difficult to navigate.
The opportunities are spread across institutions, consultancies, associations, agencies, EU-funded projects and many other organisations.
Understanding where you fit—and how to present what you bring—is not always straightforward.
I created EU Affairs Careers to help graduates and professionals make sense of that landscape, find a clearer direction and take practical steps forward.
From Blue Book trainee to EU affairs professional
My own EU career began more than 20 years ago as a Blue Book trainee at the Council of the European Union.
Since then, I have worked across EU institutions, consulting firms—including a Big Four consultancy—trade associations and European Commission projects. I have experienced the Brussels job market from several perspectives: as an employee, a manager and an independent consultant.
Today, alongside my coaching work, I lead communications for European Commission projects focused on stakeholder engagement and digital transformation.
This varied career has given me a practical understanding of how the EU affairs ecosystem works, what different organisations look for and how careers are really built over time.
Why I created EU Affairs Careers
Over the years, I have met many talented people who had strong qualifications and valuable experience but were still unsure about where they fitted or what to do next.
The problem was often not a lack of potential. It was a lack of clarity:
Which direction makes sense for me?
Where does my experience fit?
How should I position myself?
What should I focus on first?
These are the questions at the heart of EU Affairs Careers.
My role is not to tell you what your career should look like. It is to help you understand your situation, explore realistic possibilities and develop a direction that feels both ambitious and achievable.
From uncertainty to action
The UEPA Framework is my practical approach to EU-career development, shaped by more than 20 years in EU affairs and refined through real career conversations with graduates and professionals.
Understand your experience, strengths, priorities and current situation.
Explore realistic roles, organisations and paths across the EU-affairs landscape.
Position your profile clearly for the opportunities you want to pursue.
Act through focused applications, conversations and practical next steps.
Depending on where you are in your career, you may need one focused conversation or more structured support across the complete journey.
What you can expect from me
When we work together, you can expect:
An honest and thoughtful outside perspective
Practical insight into the EU affairs job market
Questions that help you see your situation more clearly
Advice tailored to your experience and objectives
A structured conversation with clear next steps
I will challenge your assumptions when that is useful, but I will not push you towards a predetermined path. The aim is to help you make informed career decisions that are right for you.
Who I work with
I work with graduates, trainees and professionals who are:
exploring where they fit within EU affairs;
preparing for life after a Blue Book or another traineeship;
considering a move into or within the Brussels job market;
transitioning between institutions, consultancies, associations or related sectors;
looking for greater clarity, stronger positioning or a more focused career strategy.
You do not need to have everything figured out before getting in touch. That is often where our conversation begins.
